Weight Loss Supplements - Programs

There are many types of supplements on the market that have been around for many years, including diet teas, bars and shakes. Weight loss programs such as Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig encourage a plan that includes using supplements, eating healthy foods, and exercise.

Counseling and Support Groups
The counseling and support groups offered within these programs make it effective for many who require motivation and assistance.

Weight loss supplements such as bars and shakes supply one-third of all of the protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals your body needs to stay healthy. Dieters who use weight loss products sometimes lose sight of the fact that the body needs nourishment, and often deprive themselves in their desire to lose weight quickly. Weight loss supplements used as meal replacers should not replace your entire food consumption.

Weight Watchers - This program is based on a point value system that trades food for points. All foods have their own point value so that users total their points to can stay within their recommended daily caloric and fat intake.

  • Weight Watchers encourages keeping a journal and attending meetings in person, or online, to keep members on track.
  • It costs about one hundred dollars to sign-up and begin the program. This amount will keep you going for three months, after which there is a monthly charge.
  • All weight loss supplements (including shakes, bars and other goodies) are purchased as an extra cost, but are a recommended part of the program.

Jenny Craig - This is a program that has membership levels. Its non-dieting approach promises that anyone who follows the program can lose one to two pounds a week.

  • This program is more expensive than Weight Watchers with membership prices varying from $100 to $300 to get started.
  • They offer an in-house and online program.
  • They help you to arrange better menu planning and have counselors to give advice to members.
  • All weight loss supplements are purchased through the program including vegetarian, kosher, and diabetic products.

Shopping for Weight Loss Supplements
If you are not interested in joining a program to lose weight you can buy weight loss supplements in your local drug store, health food stores and shopping malls or online. They are just about everywhere and are easy to find.
