Weight Loss Calculator

WomenYou can find out your Body Mass Index (BMI) using a weight loss calculator. It uses your height and weight to calculate your body fat percentage.

Because muscle is heavier than fat those who are extremely muscular should not use this system to calculate their body fat percentage.

Determining your body mass index (BMI) can estimate how much extra body fat you have and will determine if you are in a category that puts you at risk for certain health risks. Obesity has been linked with the increased risk of developing such conditions as high blood pressure, Type 2 diabetes and coronary artery disease.

BMI cannot be properly ascertained if you are pregnant, breast feeding, if you are a competitive athlete, body builder or if you are a chronically ill patient. People younger than eighteen will not get a proper estimate from a BMI chart because they are not finished growing. The higher your BMI, the more likely it is that you are at a health risk.

How to use the weight loss calculator

  • Calculate your height in inches
  • Calculate your weight in pounds
  • Check the top number on the graph next to the heading Body Mass Index and your fat percentage will be revealed to you

If your BMI is anywhere between 25 and 30 you are considered overweight. Anything over 30 is bordering on obesity. These calculations are based on the findings of the World Health Organization (WHO).
