Lifestyle ChangesLifestyle changes are a must when you are trying to lose weight. Make a list of your regular everyday routine and decide what you could change to make losing weight easier. Breakfast in the morning should consist of healthier eating - You could try eating a whole grain cereal with low-fat milk or a bowl of oatmeal. Skipping meals is never a good idea because it slows down your metabolism and causes you to have less energy. If you can walk or bike to work you could burn some calories. This exercise will stimulate your system and get your circulation going for the day. If you do not have the time to walk or bike to work you could find other ways to get moving.
Stay away from vending machines at work! These are fat trappers that can sabotage your diet. Make sure you bring enough low-fat snacks to keep you satisfied for the day. Pre-plan your meals for the week to avoid eating at fast food restaurants. When you find yourself in a situation where you can't avoid eating out choose a restaurant that serves low fat foods. MacDonald's and other fast food restaurants are adding better choice products to their menus that are lower in fat and better for you. Get rid of foods in your kitchen that might be tempting - You could substitute certain snacks like chips for the low-fat types and ice-cream for frozen yogurt. There are all types of foods that can be substituted for the ones you can't live without. Pick up an activity that you enjoy - Get together with a friend who would like to live healthier and join a gym, or plan an activity you both enjoy. Don't snack after 7:00 PM. If you really feel like you need to snack after hours you could try eating a fruit or some cut up vegetables. Making the necessary changes in diet and exercise can be a great start to getting in shape. Determination is the key! Persistence is the key to success. It's easy to get discouraged when you don't see instant results however persistence will get you there. Keeping a journal of your progress can also be a helpful motivator.
